From 1932: “Five room and bath furnished bungalow with a four room cottage in the rear. Both buildings in A-1 condition. Garage. A close-in location with an income to pay taxes and up-keep. $2,000 Van Sciver & Sons Realtors.”
This house was purchased in 1932 by Mr. Charles H. Osgood. Charles had just moved to St. Pete in 1932 from Concord New Hampshire where he had retired as Chief Clerk of the Boston and Maine Railroad. Charles was 78 years old when he moved to St. Pete and had been divorced for several years. Ms. Louisa C. Brokaw had also moved to St. Pete in 1932 from Trenton NJ where she was a licensed registered nurse having graduated from Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton. Louisa was 49 when she arrived in St. Pete. The couple had met and on November 10, 1938, were married at Northside Baptist Church. The couple moved into Charles’ home at 945 8th St. No. Charles died on February 18, 1952 at age 98. Louisa continued to live in the house until her passing…coincidentally also on February 18 but 8 years later, 1960. Louisa was 76 years old.
